Chapter 24, Sections 8, 9 and 10 of the Criminal Code of Finland governs the country’s defamation laws. Defamation sanctions imprisonment ranging from 6 months to two years. The period for filing action shall prescribe in five years (See Section 1 Chapter 8 of the Criminal Code of Finland), calculated from the day of the commission of the offense.
